Rosa's wonderful products

Postby joyjane1028 » Wed Dec 09, 2009 4:20 am

I met Rosa 8-) online on or about October this year. Rosanna was the one who introduced me about Rosa's course. At first, I was kind of hesitant. In the last two months, I had numerous discussions with her thru emails asking her all kind of questions about her courses, she and Rosanna always patiently explained to me any thing I want to know; finally, I made the purchase yesterday (12/7/2009). Oh boy, what a wonderful experience I had last night!! I can't help but have to share it with any guests or visitors here. :D

First, I was not able to download the lessons. Do you know what Rosa did? She downloaded all the lessons and emailed them to me.
Then, I watched all 5 lessons this morning. :bravo: I looooooooooove it!! (FYI, I bought the CCI vol. 1. yesterday, I am going to buy CCI vol. 2 and the rest of all her courses today. I can't wait to watch them all during my X'mas holiday and this is a X'mas gift I get for myself. The best X'mas gift I have ever got. :) )

My only regret is: Why didn't I purchase her course earlier? I have to tell every one here, Rosa is a wonderful teacher. whenever you need support, she will always be there. (To me, she is there almost 24/7.)

Thank you, Rosa.:thankyou:

Freeplay, do you mind if I ask you a question?.I love your version of Que Sera Sera.I think you play it so beautifully. Can I ask how do you get the left hand to sound so rich and smooth.Would you tell me what notes you are playing on the LH ? I am sure Rosablanca was thilled when you dedicated to her.I was trying to play it and I get the right hand no bother but my LH doesn't sound right at all.

Hi Anna -- :hi:

I'm flattered that you ask about the Que Sera recording. The LH is a basic accompaniment pattern called a "Boom Chuck" by the Piano Magic students. In the key of C and 3/4 time, it would be low C for one beat then the C chord (C-E-G) higher for two beats. This is not easy to explain in words and much easier to learn from a video. I'm sure Rosa has this information somewhere in one of her Books, but at the moment I really don't know in which book to look.

Maybe Rosa can direct you? :?:

You'll eventually get good at this type of accompaniment because it's used a lot. The smoothness comes from playing it thousands of times. Whenever I learn a new song, this is usually how I begin, with Boom-Chucks. It just becomes a natural way to start a song. And it's very fun!
It's a fun path as you discover that you can do things that you like to hear in other people's playing. It's only a matter of time and patient searching. :rainbow:

Hi Freeplay,
I am a member of PM but I kind of gave up.I was really stuck as I couldn't manage to stretch an octave in my right hand.I asked Mike a couple of times and he did answer but it didn't help me.Unknown to me Mike had been away for ages and I was floundering.
Rosa picked me up and I am really enjoying my music here.I do know how to play boom chucks but I must say your version of Que Sera is outsanding.I think Rosa will agree when I say you are very musical.your playing is so gentle and yet so stirring.I will take your advice and keep at it until I can play boom chucks as beautifully as you do.
:thankyou: for your help

Hi Marianna,

I just want to mention when Freeply uses the "boom chuck" in the 3/4 song Que Sera, that technique is also found in CCI1, Song (chapter) 3, LH waltz technique (page 80).

3/4 "boom chuck" is often also called "oom pah" in other teaching methods. It's also called "stride" style. This "wheel" was invented long ago and isn't the domain of any one contemporary teaching method. Think of Strauss, and I am sure way before that era too.

Of course, this boom-chuck or oom-pah idea can be applied to 4/4 too - by playing Oom-pah Oom-pah. And other than the "vanilla" version of this technique (be it 3/4 or 4/4), the notes of the "oom" and "pah"; the timing, can be varied in infinite ways. Rosa's chapter 3 gives some very nice rhythmic variations. I am sure you can experiment and come up with more!

:hiwav: Hi Joy,

Yes, we first met at Piano World and it's so good to meet again here at my site!

I, too, realize that there are many courses out there as mentioned at Piano World. It is really difficult for students to decide and choose for the right course. They want to make sure that the courses really work for them to take their piano playing to the next level. Also a lot of people have tried too many net courses and are giving up because the course materials do not deliver what they promote.

From my post there, you could tell I was very conservative regarding my suggestion to you and I recommended many other net courses for you to try.

You've also tried some other courses & from your emails I gather that you can play up to Grade 5 level....... so I am thrilled :rainbow: to read that you are finding great value even in my introductory CCI Vol 1 and that you are continuing to learn my Color Chord Improvisation Method and 7 Secrets to Playing in the flow. :music-122:

Keep us updated with your progress! :bravo:
